Festive Pt 1: Drip Cocktails

Dear BIP members

This will be our last newsletter for 2009. As we write this, we know that all BIP members will be gearing up for one of the most intensive braai improvement processes of the year - the festive season braai.

We'd like to wish you all of the success that may have eluded you during the year and to help you we've reviewed some braai party approaches that you may want to try out.

Festive Drip Cocktails

As BIP remains at the cutting edge of braaing, we'd like to advise our members of a simple and convenient way to enjoy cocktails and still braai at the same time. The equipment used in this approach is relatively cost effective and with careful cleaning can be used for years. Please note that the following recipe is only for BIP members above the age of 18.
  1. Buy a medical drip kit and throw away the needle. We do not encourage shared HIV/AIDS behaviour.
  2. Prepare 1 litre of your favourite cocktail.
  3. Make a slit in the drip bag holding the saline solution and pour the saline fluid out. Rinse the drip bag as saline solution tastes terrible and can make you feel nauseous. Now pour your cocktail carefully into the drip bag through the slit. Hook the drip bag onto a convenient tree next to your braai. If you don't have a tree, dig a tall stick (with a hook) into the ground next to the braai. Take care that the braai does not inadvertently heat up your cocktail.
  4. Grab the tube running from the drip bag and place this under your tongue. Some BIP members use a plaster on the side of the face to keep the tube in place. You can now regulate the flow of your cocktail. Most BIP members adjust the regulator to eight drops of liquid per second while braaing but this is merely a guide.
  5. Free from having to hold a glass and find a flat place to put it down, you can now wholeheartedly focus on your braai with the unencumbered use of both hands.
Enjoy,
Shayfish
